01 / STUDIES

Modeling and optimization.

The load, the market and the battery in one model. Compare project choices before the equipment and operating strategy are fixed.

01 / ANALYSIS

Advanced modeling across the full operating duty.

Battalion uses the Energence energy intelligence platform for these studies. A storage project can serve a load and a market at the same time. Battalion models both sides of the meter together, including the energy held for backup and the battery life each dispatch consumes.
  • Scenario analysis across four coincident peaks (4CP), five coincident peaks (5CP) and twelve coincident peaks (12CP).
  • Energy arbitrage and ancillary services by market.
  • Front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter economics in one model.
  • Tariff-accurate bill simulation.
  • Power smoothing, ramp rate and ride-through simulation at millisecond resolution.
  • Sizing and duration optimization.
  • Battery life and degradation curves.
  • Warranty-constraint modeling.
  • Eight North American markets modeled, with an operating fleet in ERCOT, CAISO and Mexico.

EIGHT NORTH AMERICAN MARKETS

ERCOT · CAISO · MISO · PJM · NYISO · ISO-NE · AESO · Mexico

Operating fleet: ERCOT, CAISO and Mexico. The remaining markets are covered by the modeling platform.

02 / SYSTEM STUDIES

Power smoothing, ramp rate and ride-through.

Millisecond-resolution simulations show how load steps move through the battery and the grid connection. The study evaluates power conversion, battery energy, recovery to target charge and the required reserve.

Parallel and dual-conversion designs are compared against the load tolerance, distribution layout and interconnection constraints. The availability model accounts for layered redundancy and block failover.

03 / DELIVERABLES

Inputs and assumptions travel with the results.

Bring interval load data, the tariff, the project connection, a single-line diagram and the battery candidates. For a critical-power study, add disturbance requirements and the load profile at the required time resolution.

The study returns sizing and duration comparisons, dispatch traces, tariff bill simulations and sensitivity to the assumptions. Battery life, degradation and warranty constraints are visible in the model. Energence brings the project data, modeling and optimization into one platform.

04 / STUDY WORKSPACE

Sizing, battery life and program choices stay connected.

The optimizer compares power, duration and operating strategy. Degradation curves show how the proposed duty consumes battery life. Revenue-program comparisons include the capacity held for backup and the limits of the connection.
