BUILT AROUND THE LIFE OF YOUR PLANT

Confidence before commissioning.
And through every change.

01 / COMMISSIONING

Fewer unknowns
on site.

Exercise demanding operating conditions, communication loss, and equipment faults before they reach the plant. Bring a clearer understanding of control behavior into commissioning.

02 / VERIFICATION

Evidence you can
build on.

Repeat verification as software and site configurations evolve. A shared control implementation provides a foundation for traceable evidence supporting power plant controller (PPC) validation.

03 / EXPANSION

Room to grow.
A foundation to keep.

Reuse control components and equipment models across blocks and projects. Allocate processing resources around critical control as communications and operational workloads grow.

Inside Battalion EMSControl and software architecture

The predictability expected of industrial control, with the flexibility and computing capacity of modern multicore industrial PCs.

Deterministic control kernel
Explicit time and ordered events make control behavior reproducible under controlled inputs. The same logic can be exercised against simulated conditions and live equipment.
Rust
A shared, strongly typed software foundation lets us develop reusable control components and verify their behavior as the platform evolves.
Separate runtimes for control and communications
Separate execution runtimes let us assign critical control, field communications, and background services to distinct CPU sets and scheduling priorities.
Real-time Linux on an industrial PC
Real-time scheduling and deliberate CPU allocation help protect execution capacity for time-sensitive work. End-to-end timing depends on the configured hardware, OS, and equipment.

SITE CONTROL

One supervisory loop across the plant.

Battalion EMS is the site energy management system. Its supervisory loop runs once per second, coordinating plant dispatch and equipment limits. The medium-voltage uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has a separate UPS block controller for its local response.

Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) runs on the EMS controller. It collects field values with their timestamps and quality, assigns command-point authority and records every tag in the on-site historian. Battalion Live receives the backlog when the wide-area link returns.

The power plant controller (PPC) holds the plant inside its interconnection limits and distributes setpoints across inverter groups within the limits each battery reports.
