Battalion was founded by people who had spent their careers in energy storage, utility software, remote monitoring, and automation and controls. We had operated enough battery systems, and worked around enough of the EMS products on the market, to know what they got wrong. So we built our own, from the ground up. The result is a next-generation platform that our customers tell us is exceptional, and a team that people like working with.
Our EMS runs batteries in front of the meter, behind the meter, in critical-power microgrids, and in data centers. We have deployed it in three countries and we are expanding globally. Over the last two years, data centers have become our main focus. AI workloads need more power, and faster-changing power, than the grid and traditional data center infrastructure were designed to deliver. Battery systems, medium-voltage UPS, and the controls that tie them together are part of the answer, and we have emerged as one of the few teams with real expertise in operating batteries for that job. That work has produced a pipeline of very large data center projects that are now moving from proposal into execution, and partners who are building alongside us.
We have been building energy management systems and operating batteries since 2016. Before that, the founders built real-time data acquisition and control software for mission-critical industrial systems, which is where the habits behind the platform come from.
We started as a small core team of very experienced people, and we have been bootstrapped from day one. That is changing. We are scaling up across the company: engineering, deployment, field operations, product, and customer support.
