Critical power for factories in Mexico ↗
Between 49.7 and 81.6 percent of Mexico's larger manufacturers, depending on the region, report interruptions to their electricity supply in the central bank's regional survey. A medium-voltage UPS with a battery behind it keeps a process line running through them with 0 ms transfer.
05 OCT 2026ERCOT's proposed 10 MW power variation limit for AI data centers ↗
ERCOT has proposed that a large computational load may not swing more than 10 MW peak to peak in any 5 seconds, measured from 0.1 to 55 Hz. AI training swings hundreds of megawatts. ERCOT studies of generator shafts explain the limit, and a battery on the medium-voltage bus brings a simulated 1 GW campus to 5.7 MW against it.
05 OCT 2026Why data centers must now ride through grid faults ↗
On July 22, 2026, about 3,800 MW of data center load in Northern Virginia moved off the grid after one cleared transmission fault. NERC, PJM and ERCOT records show the same failure since 2024, and ERCOT NOGRR 282 now makes ride-through a condition of connection.
02 OCT 2026Why your AI data center needs a battery ↗
Seven reasons an AI data center needs a battery on its medium-voltage bus: interconnection risk, AI load pulses, generator protection, ramp rate, NOGRR 282 ride-through, backup power and energy cost. Four connection options and the inputs that set the choice.
